GR: The Morlands letting Catherine go to NA   Written by Kristen G. (4/14/2003 5:15 p.m.)
Are you new?

So far, I have thought the Morlands excellent parents ~ managing remarkably well with all those children! One clue that Mrs. Morland has spent some one-on-one time with Catherine is that she has taught her French ~ I know from my own mom trying to teach me French that this would require many hours...

But I really wonder at their letting Catherine go to Northanger, simply because the Allens thought it would be all right.

Certainly, they let Catherine go with the Allens in the first place, but I have a feeling that they trusted in Mr. Allen's good sense and the fact that Mrs. Allen, though not the brightest crayon in the box, is kind. But they know absolutely nothing of the Tilneys, and the Allens don't really know them well either.

Any thoughts?
