to forget the warnings and see what my genuine reaction to him is. He may be a handsome older man, but I am by no means as moved by military types as by naval ones ;-)

Alarm bells started ringing when I got to the bit where Eleanor and Henry were so subdued in his presence. They are such genuinely good people, and normally self confident that this had to be significant.

The clues are being built up very subtly, aren't they?

I thought I detected a hesitation on Eleanor's part about inviting Catherine to Northanger - not because she did not want her company, but because she had some reservations about her father's motives in wanting her there.

I have not finished this week's section yet, so will post again if my views develop.
