GR: Isabella & Capt. Tilney, two of a kind   Written by Tara O'Donnell (4/13/2003 9:14 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR: IT & FT sitting in a tree..., penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

] So, what is going on between Isabella and Frederick Tilney, eh? After swearing she would not dance, James Morland being out of town, and Capt. Tilney being informed of such, they do indeed dance, much to Catherine’s surprise.

] With several days going by without seeing much of her Dear Isabella (and isn’t that telling?) Catherine again finds herself a third wheel with Isabella and a man – but the man is not her brother this time. Isabella’s talk is full of “Tilney says” and when he appears, there is Major Flirting going on in half whispers. And what Catherine hears!

IT & Captain Tilney seem to be drawn to each other,IMO,due to their mutual love of being noticed by others. Both of them know the talk and looks they would get upon dancing together, which increased their enjoyment-Isabella's excuses to Catherine"Oh! My dear! It would have looked so particular and you know how I abhor that." are laughable-this coming from a woman who pretended to be affronted by two men noticing her in the Pump Room and yet was eager to follow them down the street!

Also, the flirting in front of Catherine was not meant to insult her but with a captive audience,Isabella & the Captain couldn't resist putting on a show-total thoughtlessness!
