] ] Although Eleanor and Henry are close, I doubt she would feel that she had any right to share her observation of Catherine's feelings towards Henry to Henry.

I agree that Elinor wouldn't tell Henry about the surmises she's made from what Catherine has told her - but from the earlier posts I assumed they were talking about Henry telling Elinor how he felt. I thought the point was that since she knew how Catherine felt already - it would have been wrong for her to encourage the relationship between them if she didn't think there was a chance that Henry was recipricating. After all - that would be letting Catherine in for big disappointment if Henry had no desire to get to know her better.
