How do you perceive the following?


"Miss Morland is not used to your odd ways."
"I shall be most happy to make her better acquainted with them."
"No doubt; but that is no explanation of the present."

I read it as Henry almost acknowledging his intentions towards Catherine, and Eleanor, knowing (possibly by Henry’s prior confession to her) how much he likes Catherine, is teasing him.

This time around I am noticing more of Henry’s attention to Catherine. I think he is really starting to like her. He is trying to please & amuse her; he is seeking her company & her good opinion at least as much as she seeks his.
