GR: From chapter 9   Written by LaurieC (4/9/2003 2:10 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR: LOL Lines, penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

I laughed, probably from relief, that Catherine was starting to understand John Thorpe's character with this line:

"She reflected on the affair for some time in much perplexity, and was more than once on the point of requesting from Mr. Thorpe a clearer insight into his real opinion on the subject; but she checked herself, because it appeared to her that he did not excel in giving those clearer insights...

There are so many delicious lines in this novel, but I think some of the best come when Catherine starts to piece together the character flaws of others. :-)
