GR: LOL Lines   Written by Cheryl (4/9/2003 1:52 a.m.)
Are you new?

This is Jane Austen's funniest book - there are more Laugh Out Loud lines per page than any other. What are some of your favorites thus far? In order to keep from just copying the entire book, I chose one line per character.

Henry: "Yes, I know exactly what you will say: Friday, went to the Lower Rooms; wore my sprigged muslin robe with blue trimmings--plain black shoes--appeared to much advantage; but was strangely harassed by a queer, half-witted man, who would make me dance with him, and distressed me by his nonsense."

Mrs. Allen: "My dear, you tumble my gown!"

Isabella: "And which way are they gone?" said Isabella, turning hastily round. "One was a very good-looking young man."

John Thorpe: "What do you think of my gig, Miss Morland?"

Catherine: "Oh! The dreadful black veil!"

Narrator: "She never could learn or understand anything before she was taught; and sometimes not even then."
