GR: NA; I love these pictures of Bath   Written by Tanya Virginia (4/8/2003 9:34 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR: The Royal Crescent, penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

I keep referring to the front of my Penguin Classic edition of NA to compare the map to Catherine's outings. Personally, I think being an armchair traveller has been the most enjoyable part, so far, of the group read.

At the beginning of chapter 5 the Thorpes, the Allens, and Catharine attend a chapel service. Do you suppose it was in St. Jame's Square? It's the only place on my map of Bath (c.1803) that fits the bill; it sounds like an appropriate place for a chapel. They then proceeded to the Pump Room and the Royal Crescent. Sounds like a yummy Sunday outing. They got quite a lot of exercise in those days if they went on foot!

I keep remembering Ann Elliot's stay in Bath....street names sound so familiar...like Marlborough Buildings, Camden Place, "Ah, yes! Somewhere near the "Circus" papa!", and Westgate Buildings. Gotta re-read Persuasion or at least watch P2 again to see which streets/landmarks are mentioned.

And, now, I must away to the Upper Rooms for a fancy dress ball...
