GR:Repeating situations   Written by Linden (4/7/2003 8:53 p.m.)
Are you new?

I notice on this Group Reading a few times when situations repeat: in particular, with Thorpes and Tilneys. A couple that stand out:

-- John Thorpe and Henry Tilney are both showing off to a pretty girl: Thorpe with his talk of amazing horses and wagers, and Tilney with his wit. But how much more agreeable Henry Tilney is than John Thorpe!

-- James Morland spends time with his sister and a pretty girl; Henry Tilney does the same. Again, the comparison shows how much better the Tilneys are. Catherine, when she is the third to her brother and Isabella, is made to feel left out; there is no sense that Miss Tilney is left out when she is walking with Catherine and Henry.

Any others?
