GR - John Thorpe & a bottle a day   Written by LaurieC (4/7/2003 6:25 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR: John Thorpe - GRRRRR!!, penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

In chapter 9, John Thorpe asks - "Does he drink his bottle a day now?" and "...if everybody was to drink their bottle a day, there would not be half the disorders in the world there are now..."

I see there is also a reference to "a bottle a day" in P&P. Was there some sort of theory of drinking = good health or some such idea around that time?

And does anyone else foresee Thorpe morphing into a Mr. Hurst in a few years? LOL, I don't know what put that image into my head...possibly a random "nfm" photo I saw at one point.

;-)
