] Catherine is oblivious. I don't think she's even really listening to him, she just wants to get away from him. It takes her four "good days" before she can escape. I agree. The best lines have to be: "And then you know"--twisting himself about and forcing a foolish laugh--"I say, then you know, we may try the truth of this same old song." [Going to one marriage brings another] "May we? But I never sing. I love Catherine!
