GR: False Friends   Written by Suzan (4/6/2003 11:39 p.m.)
Are you new?

As I follow along with the Group Read, I can't help wondering about the false friends in Jane Austen's novels.

Isabella seems to use her friends to get to her love interest, as does Mary Crawford and, more particularly, Lucy Steele.

Is this a recurring situation in JA's novels, or am I seeing patterns where none exists?
