in consequence of the missive, One dares not say too much. ;-) but here's a tiny Henry ., penned by Ann2
Don't worry about it - it has no real meaning for the rest of us either!! ;-) It just indicates someone's really cute. ] What was he thinking? It says earlier that Catherine catching Mr. Tilney's eye, instantly received from him the smiling tribute of recognition (snip) Was he asking her after some hesitation because it took a while for him to recall her charming response to his silliness one week ago or was he doubting the wisdom of renewed attentions? I don't ever think of this as a long time myself - just long enough to be polite to Mrs. Allen and make sure that Elinor and Mrs. Hughes were settled comfortably and be introduced to Mrs. Tilney. And possibly to see if he thought Catherine was interested - but I don't think that was that hard to determine! But she did laugh at him and almost call him strange!! Plus - he might have wanted to make sure that she was unengaged. After all, someone else might like her sweetness, honesty and naivete! |
