Not as popular   Written by Mary Fran (4/4/2003 9:46 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Have to add..., penned by Cindy S
Are you new?

First, 'twas I who said that the NA board wasn't as popular (except during a GR, such as now). I meant no offense to my company, but I have seen it referred to many times on this and other "sleepier" boards than that of P&P.

Secondly, I have to agree with you when you say we cannot fully understand this parody in the times it was written. Reading NA today would be like (excuse the strange comparison) someone seeing the Mel Brooks movie High Anxiety without having seen all of the Alfred Hitchcock movies Mr. Brooks was parodying. It would still be funny, but you couldn't get all the jokes b/c you didn't know what they were referring to. It is just so (for me) with NA: I feel that there are certain references being made to events in books that I have not read, and can only sort of speculate, from the info I have gotten from this board and other sources, about what JA's writing about. It doesn't matter too much, because I still appreciate it anyway.
