Tidbit I must share   Written by Mary Fran (4/3/2003 12:20 a.m.)
Are you new?

In this first bit, there was an episode that I don't think anyone's brought up yet that I found terribly funny and revealing about both Catherine and Isabella. It was Chapter 6 in the pump room. CM & IT are talking when Isabella mentions that there are two "odious" young men looking at them. The young men leave, and that's when IT wants to go, but she says that she can't bear the idea of catching up to them. This is great because she makes a big deal about finding these men so offensive, and then resolves to chase them down because one was handsome. All the while Catherine is completely confused. I just felt like CM should have said, "Look, if you really want to get their attention, why don't you just admit it?" It's beautiful because Catherine is naive enough not to get Isabella's motives, and IT is enough like her brother (see post below about how JT contradicts himself and doesn't know it) to be completely ridiculous. Any other thoughts on this episode. What was IT's real motive and object? Just to get them to notice her, or to force an acquaintence do you think?
