GR: Isabella's past   Written by Cherie (4/2/2003 2:31 p.m.)
Are you new?

Someone here has already commented on Isabella being 'more than 4 years more experienced' than Catherine, which leads to some rather delicate questions about that "experience." Something else from early in the book caught my attention in that respect. We're told that when Catherine tells her of the divine Henry, IT sighs and indicates she's had her heart broken by a clergyman. At the time, it wasn't clear whether C. had mentioned Henry's full name, and I thought, uh-oh, Henry & Isabella have a "history." But later, IT doesn't react to the mention of Mr. Tilney's name, or to his presence at the dance. So I guess they didn't know each other before. But that earlier comment sure made it sound as if she'd danced a few sets with *some* member of Henry's profession!
