Today's Catherine   Written by Shir (3/30/2003 10:38 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR:Chaps. 1-3 Not a girl, not yet a woman, penned by Tara O'Donnell
Are you new?

] Catherine Morland is,in many ways, your typical small town girl-with all her brothers,it's no wonder that she was very tomboyish as a child, with her love for cricket and romping outdoors.

On my last read/listen of the first chapter, it struck me: Today Catherine would, with all probability, be diagnosed with ADD (or ADHD) and prescribed with Ritalin.. .
She can’t sit still, and she seems really hyperactive. She couldn’t learn “for she was often inattentive, and occasionally stupid”...
Reading the chapter now, I am thinking that my impression had to do a lot with Anna Massey’s reading. She reads Catherine’s description quickly and breathlessly, as if she herself is a bit hyper..
