I believe the Memoir was published in 1870, so her nephew was probably writing this with benefit of a lot of years of hindsight. What I'm curious about, when the NA manuscript was repurchased in 1816, was P&P a best-seller and its author celebrated? I hope so, but would feel better knowing Crosby regretted his earlier actions. ;-)
