GR JA sets the Stage on the first page   Written by alexl (3/30/2003 10:20 a.m.)
Are you new?

JA describes Mrs Morland as plain, the family is also described as plain, and CA was also described as plain. The use of plain 3 times on the first page is an effective tool in setting the Morland family in our conscious.

At thee end of chapter 4 JA as narrator she dismisses the need to fully report for 4 or 5 chapters the conversations which occurred 20 years ago. effectivly dissing (see I am Hip) the Gothic Style.
