Catherine was Susan   Written by Barbara (3/30/2003 2:18 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, A thought and a question, penned by CarolTS
Are you new?

] I've always wondered this - where did the title "Susan" come from? Was Catherine originally named that?

Catherine was called Susan, but in between the time the novel was first finished and JA's later efforts to publish it, another novel came out called Susan by a different authoress, so JA changed it.
