Got Me Started   Written by Shelley (11/1/2012 7:45 p.m.)
Are you new?

I was a late bloomer, Austenwise; I was assigned Sense and Sensibility one year but for some reason it didn't quite "click" with me. Later I decided I had to read all her novels, beginning with Northanger Abbey. I got to the fourth sentence, to the phrase "and he was not in the least addicted to locking up his daughters," and I was addicted myself.

Just like that.

It's not my very favorite Austen novel--I'm afraid I'll have to go with the majority for once, in preferring P&P--but it's got a special place in my heart. (If you must know, it's in a three-way tie for second place.)
