...if she were to journey anywhere with Henry. In this I agree with Therese. Regardless of what Sir Thomas thought about Fanny's unannounced arrival (if Henry ever did deliver her to MP unmarried), Fanny's honor would be the subject of gossip such that she would have lost her honor and Sir Thomas's confidence.
Mary (as one can see from her later description of a likely itinerary) was hardly a worthwhile chaperone.
