|On Fanny's (or Sylvestra Le Touzel's) behalf

in consequence of the missive, Thoughts on MP1, penned by Michelle Angelica
I think the way she moves and dresses in MP1 was calculated to show Fanny's awkwardness on two sides. First, thanks in large part to Mrs. Norris's efforts, Fanny always felt something of an outsider in her own true home. Second, Fanny was intended as the epitome of non-fashionable appearance but true inwardly ladylike values--not vulgar, but non-fashionable. Her behavior is always ladylike, but her exterior remains understated and awkward.
That said, I, too, would like to see an adaptation that held fairly close to the MP1 approach but with more up-to-date production values and a performance from Fanny that was less obviously awkward.
