Sir William's "proposal"   Written by Lynn Marie (5/18/2005 10:23 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, credibility is strained, penned by Tara O'Donnell
Are you new?

Why did Sir William offer Sophia to Mr.Jenkinson? I didn't understand this part either. He seemed to be teasing Sophia since after he declares his love for her he says,"...how could you ever think your own Burchell could deceive you,or that Sir William Thornhill could ever cease to admire a mistress that loved him for himself alone?". The teasing didn't seem to fit in with the sincerity of his feelings for Sophia.

But then a lot of things don't really add up in this book...
