I interpreted this line in a slightly different way. When you love someone, you will do things for them that you may not want to do. It's not about compromise -- it's about totally giving in, even if it's not good for oneself, or worse, if it's wrong. Olivia was taken in by Mr. Thornhill's charms, and his comfortable circumstances make him even easier to love. Besides, if she refused to run off with him and marry, there wouldn't be much of a story for us to read. ;-)
