Comparisons   Written by Debra Mc (5/12/2005 12:55 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Comparable sinners, contrasting reactions, penned by PeggyC
Are you new?

As the family heard of Olivia's departure, I thought of Lydia as well - one of the Vicar's ramblings brought Mr. Collins and Mrs. Bennet to mind:

"My child!—To undo my darling! May confusion seize—Heaven forgive me, what am I about to say! You may remember, my love, how good she was, and how charming; till this vile moment all her care was to make us happy. Had she but died! But she is gone, the honour of our family contaminated, and I must look out for happiness in other worlds than here."

It sounds like a combination of the two of them!
