...it doesn't have believability to draw me in

...it doesn't have humor enough to be a farce
...it doesn't have characters I care about

It doesn't draw me into the story like Jane Austen's characters and events. It doesn't make me laugh at the ridiculous like Moliere. It reminds me of 2 of my least favorite books: Wuthering Heights and The Scarlet Letter in that, when I finished the one and gave up on the other, I found I had no sympathy or interest in the characters or what happened to them.
