Oh, I am so enlighted now and ashamed that I missed it before :)

Yes, by the description, I was completely drawn in and expecting an older man for the uncle, but how much more convenient to have a younger one. Mr. Burchell certainly seemed to know Sir William's innermost motivations, did he not?

Now I must go back and reread to observe Mr. Burchell's coming and goings in relation to Mr. Thornhill's.
