this got me very confused. I was not sure who was talking about whom.

Mr. Burchell is a mystery character IMO. And I think Sophia will be justly rewarded for being attracted to him - as attracted she seems, and he too, going back and forth to help her during the hay-making.

I wonder if this is a kind of mislead - JA style - by mentioning an uncle, which has set us thinking about an older man.
