I tend to agree and my notation reinforces the point that Robert affected indifference because he did not get the admiring looks he calculated his performance should elicit. As we know Elinor's calm exterior gave nothing away, (fortunately for him) and his ego, therefore, needed this show of indifference as a salve for his pride it seems.
