I agree.   Written by amytat (10/18/2012 3:25 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, The engagement reveal--poor Elinor!, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

Marianne finally sees merit in Elinor’s behavior. When Marianne says, “…Because your merit cries out upon myself, I have been trying to do it away." I feel like she’s truly learned something about herself. Part of me wanted to shout “finally!” but I have to give her credit for honestly facing a difficult self-realization. She also makes a real effort to restrain herself for Elinor’s sake when the engagement is discussed.

I do feel quite sorry for Elinor – it seems like she always has to be the strong one.
