Delaford   Written by Stephanie (10/10/2012 2:03 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mrs. Jennings' description, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

The description Mrs. Jennings gives of Delaford, as being an old-fashioned place, make me think that it does not have the modern points that Barton Park has. (I am judging from some other Author-Austen descriptions of 'modern' vs. 'old-fashioned' homes, here.)

It may be built low, ignoring the views that one gets from being atop hills, and not have enclosed common lands, yet; the luxuries Mrs. Jennings praises all seem to be about providing food -- except for 'a very pretty canal' -- or engaging in socializing. A busy turnpike road, for instance, does not seem to type to inspire Elinor's crayons, nor Marianne's raptures.
