Was Lucy just lucky?   Written by BarbaraB (10/9/2012 12:25 a.m.)
Are you new?

I've always wondered about the Steele sisters' meeting of Mrs. Jennings and Sir John in Exeter. Using Ellen Moody's timeline, Edward, having left from 'visiting Lucy', arrives at Barton Cottage on the 15th of November and leaves on the 22nd. About five days later, the Steeles happen to run into their distance cousin, Mrs. Jennings in Exeter. I just can't help thinking the clever Lucy has likely planned a visit to Exeter with the express plan of hoping for an opportunity to accidentally on-purpose bump into Mrs. Jennings and finagle a visit to get next to Elinor to warn her away from Edward. The invitation is for when they complete their engagements in Exeter but the engagements are immediately dropped and they are at Barton Park the next day. I mean, isn't it just too much of a coincidence?
