A little more information   Written by Ramya (10/8/2012 8:24 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Logistics of not having a Carriage, penned by Ramya

Thanks for the response, everyone! We get a little more information on the conveniences available near Barton Cottage in Chapter 30. In comparing Delaford with Barton Park, Mrs. Jennings says: "Oh! 'tis a nice place! A butcher hard by in the village, and the parsonage-house within a stone's throw. To my fancy, a thousand times prettier than Barton Park, where they are forced to send three miles for their meat, and have not a neighbour nearer than your mother."

I assume that the Dashwoods have to do the same using their servants, unless the Middletons undertake to fetch for the Dashwoods as well. Barton Cottage does seem a little isolated in both location and the restrictions the residents have placed on themselves in terms of socializing with the neighbors.
