I think food would mostly be delivered..or servants woudl collect it on foot. IIRC Thomas was sent into Exeter on business and the poor guy problably had to walk or cadge a lift on a farm cart.


But yes the fact that they had no carriage would mean that in the country, their social life woudl be limited ot going to places where they could get there on foot, or where someone woudl send their carriage for them.
