Getting around.   Written by Rachel G (10/1/2012 5:38 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Logistics of not having a Carriage, penned by Ramya
Are you new?

How do the Dashwoods get about? Presumably they walk, as did most people. We have heard nothing about them keeping a donkey and cart.

If they are visiting the Middletons in bad weather, they would have to wear boots and carry their indoor shoes with them, but I suspect Sir John's generosity would cause him to send his carriage to collect them.

The servants could buy meat and provisions in Barton village, or might get them from a nearby farm. If it was too much to carry then the seller would probably deliver their purchases.
