That makes sense.

I can better understand Elinor not asking than I can Mrs. Dashwood. She seems to be convinced there’s nothing inappropriate going on but it still seems to me like a responsible parent should check it out. Even if said, “I’ll understand if you can’t answer but I need to ask.”

Does Mrs. Dashwood know as much as Elinor does about Marianne’s behavior-such as visiting Allenham unchaperoned?
