Are you new?

I am not sure your math is correct, since one of the four is a child; one assumes she has a child's appetite, that less cloth would be bought to make her clothes, and so forth.

Of course, she would also be of less help around the house, as well.

I think of Margaret a lot while reading this novel, especially when she is mentioned as being present, but then never adds to the conversation, or has a reaction to what is going forward.
