to others. At this point in the book, I find Marianne annoying but he sees her innocence and passion and loves that about her. I think maybe the same thing goes on with the Middletons and Mrs. Jennings, they are jovial companions, who at heart are good but sadly lacking the diplomacy area. But they live near his estate and they will happily socialize with him. He's rather an introvert, I think, and needs that kind of companionship. And he is prudent enough to know how to handle it. I think he is a man above getting irritated over clueless but generous people.
