I see JA as setting Marianne up for a fall here   Written by Louise H (9/19/2012 8:53 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Ch. 3: Marianne's ideals, penned by Jasmine D
Are you new?

Marianne's words seem to me over the top. I don't think it's reasonable -- or conducive to happiness -- to expect one's husband to share all one's tastes in books and music. If he shares all your tastes, how will you learn anything from him?

It's interesting you identify with Marianne. That shows that JA is portraying her fairly. I tend to think she's portrayed as a drama queen, and not nearly as sympathetic as Elinor. I'd like to think that each of them is presented even-handedly.
