Good point.   Written by AndreaML (9/16/2012 9:48 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, 35 and 70, penned by Mary Anne
Are you new?

An interesting cross reference to this would be that Sir Walter in "Persuasion" talks about the aging affect of the sun on a naval man, illustrating it with the story of Admiral Baldwin looking much older than his real age. While Brandon is not a naval man, I think being out in the sun in the East Indies could have similar affects. Perhaps Brandon would look older, and perhaps that would add to Marianne's declaration that he is past the age of passion.
