Rich inheriting   Written by Stephanie (9/16/2012 6:48 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, He didn’t inherit the property, penned by amytat
Are you new?

In truth, no one thinks they are giving money to the monied, I would guess.

Yet, that is what happens.

Whether it is that the bequeath-er thinks the heir has proven to be able to handle money, or whether there is a subconscious esteem for others who have the status money confers, it is common enough to be a truism.

If the late Mr. Dashwood assumed that his nephew (who had had Stanhill, an estate of his own, prior to coming to live at Norland), could use his remaining years to provide for a family of four women, he turns out to have miscalculated. What a horrible return for all the kindness and affection the first chapter describes! And how overpaid four-year-old Henry is for being a normal toddler!
