Welcome to the S&S group read!

A few things to get us started:

• No spoilers allowed. During each week, we will discuss only the chapters for that week, and any previously read chapters. Do not mention or discuss anything that happens later in the book. Many of us have read it before, of course, but we may have people joining us who are first time readers. Please do not even hint or allude to future events.
  
• Please read the other posts before posting. If there is heavy traffic, it can sometimes be a challenge to get through all of them, but it is disheartening to post something, only to have someone who clearly didn't read your post write something similar later. We can all have a chance to exhibit, but please respect this courtesy.
• Along the same lines, please see if your post will fit into an existing thread before beginning a new thread. We don't need to have multiple threads at one time villifying Fanny--although I'm sure there will be several!
  
• To aid with the above two points, please try to make your subject lines indicative of what the post contains. Try to avoid generic subject lines or using JA quotes that do not pertain to what you want to discuss as subject lines.


• There will be points on which various participants will disagree. This is to be expected. Please be civil. Please also remember that repeating your point over and over is unlikely to convince anyone. If you have nothing new to add to what you already said to try to make your point, then don't say it again. Agree to disagree and move on.
• We're here to discuss the novel, not the adaptations. It is fine to mention something that was in an adaptation of the novel, but the adaptations are not the focus of our read, nor are comparisons between the book and the film adaptations.
