When you say..   Written by Reeba (10/25/2009 10:57 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Indiscretion, penned by Bridget D
Are you new?

>W's behavour was very bad, I dont deny that, and he should have offered to marry her... or at least to support the child....but IMO the world is full of bad people and sensible people take steps to ensrue that they dont' get hurt by them....

There are two important points (which I have highlighted)

The first one is what I think most are saying, that Willoughby is "bad people". How bad he is, we have discussed it in detail.

The second highlighted part has already been taken up by Kathleen (elder).

I have only one thing to say, that "bad people" don't go about with that label, so saying that ensuring ones self against them doesn't fit in your statement.

Either Eliza knew that he was bad and went ahead nevertheless, or she was totally taken in.

The former case is the one which would need to be argued over IMO to try and support Eliza's behaviour.

The latter can only be seen as breach of trust/promise on Willoughby's part.
