From fawning to repayment   Written by Barb JA (10/23/2009 5:06 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, She's rich enough now to snub them, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

I was watching the Tom Jones mini-series just a week ago and was reminded when I saw Captain Blifil, repaying Miss Bridget for all the tedious hours before their marriage of submitting his opinion to hers. There is a similarity to Lucy's sucking up to people. Once she's in possession of Robert's money, she doesn't have to be nice to Robert anymore either. Imagine his surprise when she disagrees with one of his pronouncements.

as well as the frequent domestic disagreements between Robert and Lucy themselves

One other similarity between Lucy and Captain Blifil, is that they each ditched their sibling at the first opportunity after making their fortune.

The only person Lucy will always have to fawn over is Mrs. Ferrars so she can keep the money flowing. :-)
