Something a writer would notice...   Written by Anselm (10/18/2009 12:21 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Ebbs and flows, penned by Barb JA
Are you new?

...or, in my case, a musician. I'm so used to noticing things like arch forms in Mozart sonatas and suchlike that it's almost disappointing not to find one in a JA novel!

The volumes, to the best of my knowledge, were released together. As I think I've mentioned before, the rationale for this was that, books being expensive items back then, a publication in three volumes would allow one member of a household to pass V.1 on to another member while continuing with V.2. Thus three people could be reading the same book at the same time.

"3 for the price of 1" - not a bad deal, eh?
