Ch. 49. A change of mood.   Written by Rachel G (10/18/2009 6:27 a.m.)
Are you new?

What a total change of mood and style in Ch.49. At the end of the previous chapter we have Elinor white faced, the tension in the room, and Edward cutting the scissors sheath to pieces as the news of Lucy and Robert's marriage is revealed. Elinor rushes out and bursts into tears. Edward silent, then walks out without a word.

In Ch.49 the change of mood is total, and marked by a complete change of style. The opening two and a half paragraphs are JA at her ironic, tongue-in-cheek best. Three LOL lines in quick succession put a huge grin on the reader's face to match the mood of the characters. I noticed the physical effect of this on my own face and mood as I began to read the final chapters. I can't devise an emoticon which adequately expresses the effect.
