Thanks for posting this. Several times during this GR, I’ve noticed the statement that Marianne would never have gone as far as Eliza and wanted to address the topic but never got around to it. Elinor is always cautioning Marianne about her behavior but I wanted to particularly point out the conversation about Marianne going to Allenham when Marianne said, as already cited by Barbara, “...if there had been any real impropriety in what I did, I should have been sensible of it at the time, for we always know when we are acting wrong, and with such a conviction I could have had no pleasure." as well as, “... I am not sensible of having done anything wrong in walking over Mrs. Smith's grounds, or in seeing her house.” I realized then that with an attitude like that, the chance of Marianne being seduced, though perhaps less than Eliza, was not an impossibility.
