flirting   Written by Bridget D (10/16/2009 1:56 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Flirtation, penned by Barb JA
Are you new?

Perhaps I didn't express it very well.. Flirtation I see as a bit of fun, between two well matched individuals, an exchange of compliments etc which may lead to a serious love relationship or which may fizzle out after a while... Scuch as the flirtation between Elizabeth and Wickham, or even Eliz and Darcy in P&P...It can be done quite safely in company. ( as with Emma adn Frank Churchill at Box Hill)...It need not lead ot seduction

But that's quite different IMO from the sort of behaviour that I THINK the two girls were indulging in, which was going around unchaperoned, not socialising under the aegis of their families... which woudl AFAIK, have made them seem "unrespectable" in Regency England.
