Yes, I remember reading that JA did not always like the way her mother read the voices - I expect that JA, as would every author, had a very clear image of how her characters would speak.

I agree about the audiobooks but the only problem then is that the reader, myself included, has built up such a strong picture of the characters in their mind that some of the voices just sound wrong, to me anyway, and I find myself thinking "No, Elinor would not speak like that!" or "Fanny sounds too bold" etc. ;-)

Anyway, I'm getting off-topic here so I had better sign off, but thanks for your response! :-)
